Carol
has been designing her own needlework for some years now. She
says she likes the designing more than the actual stitching -
same
goes for knitting and quilt making as well. Her Mum is very
creative too and so Carol guesses she just grew up thinking that you
always have to have a project or two (or three...) on the go.
Here's what Carol had to say on how she
got the idea
to produce her own designs. "About three years ago Brenda got
me
to run a class, for the Embroidery Shop in Masterton, on designing
cross-stitch. She displayed some of my work in the window to advertise
the class and people wanted to buy it - she said I should create some
designs for her to sell.
The idea stayed in my head and slowly grew. I got tired of
my
academic life and wanted to do something more fun. My husband and Mum
encouraged me (always fatal) and away I went. Mum and I have stitched
away testing and reworking designs over the past two years.
Finally it has all come together. We are pretty
pleased
with the results and I'm working on my next ones already. Nothing like
being confident!! "
So here is the collection of her bright needlepoint
tapestries worked on 18 count
interlocked canvas in continental (tent) stitch using six strands of
DMC cotton. And her Counted Cross Stitch designs worked on 18
count frabric with two strands of DMC cotton.
Each design comes in a CD presentation pack and contains a
large
clear colour chart and full instructions for $NZ 22.50.
If you would like us to put together the fabric and threads
