A warm hello from the sunny Wairarapa. First of all we at Victoria Ellen would like to thank you for your continued support over the past year, and wish you and your families all the best for Christmas and the New Year. We hope to be in touch with you more often next year with lots of new and exciting things.
Well we are very excited about Christmas - yes, we can hear you groaning from here - but start NOW and it will only get better! There are so many interesting projects available in store and we have been so excited by them that we even produced a few samples ourselves. Now we can't wait to trim the tree and play Christmas carols! You may not have time to get these done for this Christmas, but with the years going as fast as they are, it could be time to think about projects for next year!!
As we don't have the time to put a proper newsletter out we thought we would cobble together a simple flyer and send it out via email. At least that way you will get it before the new year. In this issue you'll find a few Xmas ideas as well a some great bargains to make things a bit easier on your credit card. For all you stitchers out there who always plan to make Christmas decorations but always run out of time here is a quick and cheap little decoration idea. Diane was shown this by a customer in Wellington a few years ago. She was stitching them to sell at the school fair.

Save your milk bottle caps and juice bottle caps, stitch a small design on 18 ct aida, put your finished work over the bottle cap, if you still have the ring from the bottle you can slip that over the top to hold the fabric in place, or you can glue down the edges on to the cap and decorate with a bit of tartan ribbon, or lace, make a loop out of a piece of gold/ silver cord and fix into place on the back then cover the back with a small piece of felt.
These are really quick (Di says she can stitch a couple in an evening once the kids have gone to bed) and cheap to make. It is a great way to use up any odd scraps of fabric as they only need a piece about 3 inches square, and you can use anything already in your floss box.
The hardest part is finding designs small enough to fit on the top of a bottle cap, for those of you who brought the book 365 quick Christmas designs from our last newsletter there are a number of designs in there that fit, for those that didn't, we still have a few copies in stock. This idea also works for other occasions. Brenda was given one with a floral design for her birthday.
