   Barbara Peterson turned her needlework hobby into a part-time business while recovering from surgery.

  Barbara has been sewing since childhood. She learned to make her own clothes while growing up in a family of 11 children, and competing for sewing machine time in the rural Wisconsin Rapids area. Later, her employer introduced her to needlepoint. She discovered counted cross stitch on her own a few years later and was hooked. But it wasn't until 20 years later that the time spent at home recovering from an operation launched her design career.
